Now one of the Hardest professions I have tried to get involved in is Education. Wow! It really take some kind of act of god to get into teaching. You would think with the lack of qualified educators that school and education institutions would love to have qualified people teach. Not true! Whether you are at the K-12 level or Continuing Education it is very difficult in deed to get into this profession.
I have tried for many years to get into teaching as a full time professor and/or educator in the school systems. I have worked as an Adjunct professor for Hillsborough community college in the Tampa, FL area and I tell you to go from Adjunct to full time is just impossible unless you know someone who knows someone.
I will say however there is no greater feeling then when you see a student understand what you are teaching and that light bulb in their head goes off for the first time. It is just so satisfying that it makes everything else just worth it.
For my student who rated me on RateMyProfessor.com thank you as a professor I am always there to help my students. Although I have not worked as an adjunct for a while deciding to concentrate on consulting and helping Organizations use Technology to increase their market share, revenue and enhance their processes. Technology is ever changing and it is with that change that organizations can drive their business to new heights.
It is also that constant change that is going to force the old guy network of education to finally change and embrace new educators without destroying their dreams and forcing some great educators to turn away from a profession, that quite frankly needs their help.
